    • Avoid touching your face and make up for 24 hours to prevent infection and complications to treatment

    • Avoid active skin care products for 5-14 days to allow skin to heal and prevent complications. This includes retinal, vitamin c, AHA’s and BHA’s.

    • After microneedling, your sensitised skin is likely to experience increased photosensitivity. It’s advisable to minimise direct sun exposure all year round, however it’s especially important to avoid UV rays after your procedure.

    • Protect the treatment area with protective clothing such as hat, sunglasses and long sleeves when outdoors

    • Let your skin rest for at least 24 hours before applying physical sunscreen, after 72 hours a chemical sunscreen can be applied

    • Do not use wash cloths, or any other type of facial cloth on the treated area

    • It’s important to avoid any strenuous physical activity that may result in sweating and flushing for at least 24 hours after your microneedling appointment. This procedure leaves the pores open and vulnerable to incursions from sweat, bacteria and impurities. By avoiding exercise, the risk of bacteria from the skin’s surface being carried into the pores by sweat is reduced.

    • Steaming hot showers or baths should also be avoided after microneedling. Similarly to intense exercise, hot water can also cause the skin to sweat and flush. Use tepid or room temperature water to wash your face and try to keep your showers and baths warm rather than hot to allow the skin to naturally repair itself without disruption.

    • Hot water can exacerbate discomfort post-peel, so we recommend washing your face with cool water only and keeping showers and baths lukewarm rather than hot.

    • Minimise sun exposure as well your skin will have increased photosensitivity after a chemical peel, there is also a risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Minimise this risk by avoiding sun exposure in the days and weeks after your procedure and wearing a broad spectrum sunscreen

    • Flushing can also exacerbate discomfort, so avoid exercise, extreme heat such as hot saunas or any other activities that may cause flushed skin for 24 hours.

    • Don’t over exfoliate. Unless directed by your dermatologist, there’s no need to physically or chemically exfoliate in the week following your chemical peel because your skin is already undergoing a chemical exfoliation process.

    • Don’t pick the skin. Once the peeling process kicks in, it can be tempting to pick at flaky skin. Avoiding this is a essential as it can lead to scarring, pigmentation or infection.

    • Avoid wearing make up for 24 hours, mineral make up is okay if needed.
